Non capita spesso, ma può capitare di incontrare un grande artista,
frequentarlo, diventare suo amico, imparare a carpire i suoi sguardi, le
sue parole, suoi sentimenti, apparentemente inespressi, ma in realtà
così invadenti e pervasivi, avvicinarti alla sua opera, prima timidamente,
poi sempre più sfacciatamente, e sentirtela entrare dentro.
Non riesci ancora a comprenderla fino in fondo, sei solo all’inizio di un
percorso, ma ti accorgi che ti diventa familiare e che hai imparato a dagli
del tu, senza titubanze, senza timori reverenziali e ti stupisci se gli altri
non riescono a fare altrettanto ed a provare le tue stesse emozioni.
Quell’artista ti ha preso per mano, delicatamente, e ti ha guidato tra i
suoi pensieri, le sue fantasie, i suoi rimorsi, le sue gioie, i suoi amori,
fino a farti scoprire le pieghe più intime del suo animo ed è così che
hai imparato a riconoscerlo in ogni dipinto, in ogni scultura : lo vedi, lo
tocchi, ne intuisci i gesti, gli stati d’animo, che puoi fissare nel tempo, ma
che sono senza tempo.
E’ inusuale, forse al limite dell’eccezionale, che un semplice artigiano
della sicurezza, che crede nel suo lavoro, così intriso degli odori di una
umanità spesso sofferente, che giorno dopo giorno intaglia e ritaglia
spazi di libertà per quanti gli chiedono di adoperarsi affinchè possano
godere appieno dei loro diritti, incontri quell’artista, lo coinvolga nei suoi
bisogni, gli trasmetta i suoi messaggi e lo faccia entrare nel suo mondo,
un mondo in cui l’animo umano irrompe con tutte le sue contraddizioni,
le sue miserie, la sua forza, la sua perfidia, le sue fragilità.
E’ certamente inusuale, ma può accadere, che quell’artista si lasci
attrarre da quel mondo, che la sua sensibilità ne risulti contaminata e
affascinata e che decida, così, di entrarci dentro e di ritoccare, con la sua
genialità, il lavoro dell’artigiano.
Sfugge però a qualsiasi logica, e rasenta l’inverosimile, il fatto che a
quei due si unisca un giovane e brillante imprenditore, che, per sua
natura, si ingegna ed opera nella cultura dell’efficienza e del risultato, e
che invece, in uno strano mix tra curiosità e sfida, scopra a sua volta il
gusto di partecipare ad un progetto nuovo ed esaltante : portare l’Arte
dentro la Polizia.
Uno sguardo distratto, un giudizio superficiale farebbero gridare subito
alla dissacrazione. Cosa c’è di più contraddittorio tra la sublimazione di
un’opera d’arte ed un lavoro così vicino ai bisogni della gente, qual è
quello del poliziotto?
Sbaglia,certo che sbaglia, quell’osservatore disattento : il suo, lungi
dall’essere un meditato giudizio, rischia di rivelarsi un frettoloso
pregiudizio.
Non conosce l’Artista, non conosce l’Artigiano, non conosce l’Imprenditore
: tutti e tre amano il proprio lavoro, ma ancora di più amano l’uomo e
sanno che l’uomo ha bisogno dell’arte, non come fatto meramente
estetico, ma come momento di riflessione, di identità, di soddisfazione
interiore, di esaltazione dei suoi sentimenti e del suo vivere quotidiano,
specie se la sua professione è irta di difficoltà, è intrisa di pericoli, è
segnata dalla sofferenza propria e altrui.
E chi più di un poliziotto racchiude in sé questa esigenza?
Nasce così questo volume,un’opera d’arte nell’opera d’arte.
Nasce come testimonianza autentica, che, pagina dopo pagina, illustra
la sensibilità e la dedizione di Mario Ceroli, e di David e Gianni Overi nel
realizzare per la Polizia di Stato una nuova pennellata di identità, che va
ad aggiungersi ad una storia fatta da oltre centocinquanta anni di attività,
un arco di tempo lunghissimo nel corso del quale migliaia e migliaia di
uomini e di donne hanno svolto con dedizione, con convinzione, con
determinazione il loro lavoro di artigiani della sicurezza per difendere
i più deboli, per aiutare chi soffre, per cancellare le ingiustizie, per
garantire la libertà di tutti,sapendo anche, se necessario, privarsi del
bene più grande: la vita.
Sfogliamo allora con rispetto queste pagine, andando oltre le immagini,
oltre le parole e cercando di entrare in una nuova logica che, anche
attraverso l’arte, ci aiuti a cancellare dalla nostra società il germe della
sofferenza, della violenza,d ell’ingiustizia.
Quando l’avremo fatto saremo stato capaci di mettere l’Uomo al centro
del nostro vivere, e non ne resteremo delusi !

t does not occur frequently, but it might happen to meet a great artist,
to go around with him, to become his friend, to learn understanding his
glace, his words, his apparently unexpressed, but in fact intrusive and
permeating, feelings, to approach his work, at first shyly, then more and
more impudently, and feel it entering you.
You can not understand it completely, you are at the beginning of your
route, but you realise it becomes familiar and you are on first-name terms
with it, without hesitancy, without awes, and you are astonished other
people can not do the same, can not prove the same emotions.
That artist took you by the hand, slightly, and guided you among his
thoughts, fantasy, regrets, happiness, love, till he made you to discover
his soul’s closest aspects, so you learnt recognise him in any of his
paintings, sculptures: you see him, touch him, you guess his gestures, his
mood and you can fix them in the time, even though they are timeless.
It is unusual, maybe even exceptional, the fact that a simple craftsman of
security, who believes in his work, soaked in suffering mankind’s smells,
who day after day cuts space of freedom for those who ask him to help
them enjoying completely their rights, meets that artist, involves him
in his needs, transmits him his messages and makes him to enter his
world, where the human soul breaks into with all contradiction, miseries,
strength, wickedness, fragility.
It is surely unusual, but it might happen that the artist lets himself attract
by that world, till his sensitiveness is contaminated and fascinated, and
that he decides to enter it and touch, with his genius, the work of the
artisan up.
But you can not really understand, it is quite incredible, that a young
entrepreneur, whose aims are efficiency and result, joints those two
people in order to take part, because of a strange mix of curiosity and
challenge, to a new stimulating project: to bring Art in Police.
An abstracted look, a superficial judgement would make cry to
desecration. What’s more contradictory between sublimation of a work
of art and a job so near to people’s needs, such the job of a policeman
is?
The inattentive observer is wrong: his judgement, far from being a
considered opinion, reveals a hurried prejudice.
He does not know the artist, he does not know the artisan, he does
not know the entrepreneur: all of them love their job, even more they
love men and know men need art, not as a pure esthetical fact, but as
reflection, identity, interior satisfaction, exaltation of their own feelings,
of their everyday lives, above all if his job is full of difficulty, dangers,
marked by his own and other’s pains.
Who, more than a policeman, has this need?
That’s the reason why this book was published – a work of art in the
work of art.
It was born as the true testimony that, page after page, show the
sensitiveness and the devotion of Mario Ceroli, David and Gianni Overi in
realising for the Italian Police a new brush-stroke of identity, that adds to
its history of more than hundred fifty year of activity, a long time during
which thousand of men and women made with dediction, conviction,
decision their work of craftsman of security in order to cancel inequities,
to grant freedom, and, if necessary, to loose the greatest gift: life.
Let’s turn over the pages and let’s go beyond images, beyond words and
try to enter the new logic, that art helps us to cancel from our society the
seed of pain, violence, inequity.
When we will have done it, we have put Man at the centre of our life. We
will not be disillusioned !
